Our Choreography Creation Class is designed for dancers who are passionate about exploring the art of dance composition and expressing their creativity through movement. This class offers students the opportunity to dive deeper into the process of creating original choreography, learning not just how to move, but how to construct meaningful and dynamic dance pieces that reflect their unique style and artistic vision.

In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of choreography including movement exploration, structure, spatial awareness, and musicality. Through a series of exercises and prompts, they will experiment with various ways to develop and organize movement sequences, from creating short phrases to building full routines. Emphasis will be placed on understanding how to develop a concept or theme, select music, and translate those ideas into movement that flows and tells a story.

Students will also explore stylistic elements from a variety of dance genres, such as contemporary, jazz, ballet, and street dance, learning how to blend these styles to create their own signature pieces. The class will encourage individual creativity, as well as collaboration with peers, providing an environment where students can exchange ideas and work together to create group choreography.

Key aspects of the Choreography Creation Class include:

Improvisation to inspire spontaneous movement and unlock new creative possibilities.
Understanding the structure of a dance piece, including introduction, development, climax, and resolution.
The exploration of transitions and dynamics to make choreography more fluid, exciting, and engaging.
Learning how to work with music, making decisions on how to interpret rhythm, tempo, and mood in relation to movement.
Constructing a performance-ready piece, including blocking, spacing, and timing, with the opportunity to present and refine the work in class.
Throughout the course, students will have the chance to perform their choreography in front of their peers, receive constructive feedback, and improve their dance composition skills. They will also develop valuable skills such as confidence, teamwork, problem-solving, and the ability to express themselves artistically through movement.

This class is ideal for dancers who have a solid understanding of technique and are looking to expand their creative abilities. Whether students are working towards creating pieces for performances, auditions, or competitions, this class provides a safe and supportive environment to experiment and hone their choreographic skills.

By the end of the course, students will have gained a greater understanding of the creative process and will be equipped with the tools to create compelling, original choreography that showcases their talents and artistic voice.
