Our Jazz 1 class is an exciting introduction to the world of jazz dance for young dancers who have a basic understanding of movement and are ready to develop their technique and style in a more structured environment. Designed for students who have completed Primary Jazz or have some prior dance experience, this class builds on foundational jazz steps and introduces new movements, combinations, and terminology while emphasizing rhythm, coordination, and musicality.

In this class, students will learn the fundamental elements of jazz dance, including jazz walks, chasses, kicks, leaps, and turns. The class focuses on improving strength, flexibility, and control, with an emphasis on developing fluidity, precision, and energy in each movement. Students will also begin working on isolations (the ability to move different parts of the body independently), which is a key aspect of jazz dance.

Jazz 1 combines both technical exercises and fun choreography, helping students build confidence, rhythm, and coordination as they progress. The class also focuses on developing performance skills, encouraging students to express themselves through energetic and dynamic dance routines set to a variety of musical styles. Jazz dance is all about feeling the music and moving with style and attitude, and this class encourages each dancer to start developing their own unique expression and interpretation of the music.

Progression:
This class serves as a strong foundation for students to progress to Jazz 2. Students will continue refining their technique, learning more complex movements, and working on larger, more challenging dance routines. With each level, they will also gain more experience in performance, learning how to project their energy and emotion on stage.
